What makes the Emerald Exchange unique from other cannabis events?
Our focus is really based on community building through our multi-faceted event immersed in nature...
Arriving on Spring Equinox Saturday, the innovative and exquisitely curated Emerald Exchange brings together cannabis advocates, cultivators, investors and patients on a scenic country, Malibu ranch to elevate the cannabis consumer experience and business potential. Guests will spend the day connecting with cannabis products, health & wellness brands, education visionaries, emerging leaders and patient communities amongst the rustic, natural beauty of Malibu at this new age-conference styled event.
Born out of the collective vision of likeminded cannabis lovers and entrepreneurs who wanted to create a venue that empowers small businesses and promotes mindful community, Emerald Exchange celebrates the rich history of the cannabis movement while heralding the exciting technological advances and ripe future of the legal cannabis industry.
We’ve heard the team behind Emerald Exchange is all female:
While Emerald Exchange has many women behind the event including Brooke Horowitz, Brittany Confer and myself, we do have some amazing men on board as well. A significant portion of our EmEx vendors, sponsors, and production contributors are incredible women owned businesses, such as A Pop Media, Deviant Dabs, Shine on Farms, Garden Society, Humboldt Patient Resource Center, Moonman’s Mistress, The Jelly Shamans, High st. Teas, Bloomfield Co and more.
We will be featuring an all-female DJ lineup including DJ Vixen, Amanda the Violinist, Alexis Tucci and divaDanielle. And many of our branding efforts speak to the feminine mystique. We definitely want to promote the message that not only are women welcome in this industry but there are many of us already leading the charge!
How did you ladies prepare for the event?
Communication and collaboration is key. We prepare by creating specific goals and tasks and then communicating as much as possible. Since our team is spread out over various CA counties, it is important for us to have daily check ins, lots of organization via clouds and drives along with weekly meetings and conference calls.
“When I entered the cannabis space over three years ago, it was typical for me to find myself in a room full of men or on a conference call where I was the only female voice, often fighting to get my opinions across. Thankfully not only is that ratio of women-to-men different today, but we get the pleasure of working with Michael Katz and Justin Calvino here at EmEx who are two extremely respectful and conscious of female rights type men. I couldn’t be happier to be working alongside my fellow inspirational and powerful female counterparts, Jessica Cure, Brooke Horowitz, to name a few, and with female business owners such as Meg Champion of Deviant Dabs and Rebecca Brinegar of A Pop Media. The kind of support and understanding you feel with female partners is quite unique and makes you feel individually stronger as an effective force making a difference in the industry,” said Emerald Exchange’s PR agent, Brittany J. Confer.
We have created quite the team and we plan to ensure everyone involved with Emerald Exchange will feel they are part of a community that will enhance business, education, wellness and most of all beautiful relationships.
What types of vendors will be at Emerald Exchange?

We will also have a variety of organic food and beverage options available such as Jetty Sushi, Boochcraft, Green Truck and more.
Name your favorite thing about The Emerald Exchange.
"My favorite thing would have to be seeing and hearing how people make connections at the event and the follow-up emails I receive filled with so much love for the community." – Jessica Cure of Cure Designs.
“Providing a platform for our northern California farmers to join together, share their medicine, farming practices and educate patients in a fun and safe environment. Facilitating connection between our small batch farmers and the southern California cannabis market.” event vendor and sponsor coordinator Brooke Horowitz.
What are some of the advantages to sun-grown cannabis in comparison to indoor grown?
Sun and native soil grown cannabis expresses itself in a unique way that takes on the environmental influences that an indoor environment cannot replicate. Different soils, moisture layer and/or altitude affects the outcome of the trichome development, therefore affecting the flavonoids and the terpenes. Each cannabis phenotype from each different cannabis appellation in Northern California, expresses itself in a unique way to that region
Energetically, I feel that sungrown cannabis vibrates at a higher level with it’s love from nature without needing to provide as potent a product as indoor. Like my sungrown cannabis farming mentor and Emerald Exchange partner Justin Calvino says, “Cannabis is a plant spirit medicine, one in which cannot be truly measured by the potency, but by the mind and body and health effects of the product.”
How can cannabis support a healthy lifestyle?
By knowing your grower and sourcing quality natural cannabis products, you are already a step ahead when it comes to what I believe to be healthy. Knowing the love and intentions put into the products at Emerald Exchange, I believe consumers are truly able to source the best products for their specific wellness needs.
Throughout my journey living with a chronic illness, I have been able to regain my health and no longer need medication utilizing high CBD products along with healthy diet, exercise, breathwork, energy work and holistic practices. I love to use CBD oil in the morning, a Sativa strain before I am active in yoga or a hike and an organic low-dose edible for more comfortable sleep along with a bath whenever I am in pain. I think if used in moderation and along with your wellness practices, cannabis can truly elevate your life.
Name 3 ways the cannabis community can support local farmers
I really believe the focus is more on support small businesses and farmers by choosing to know them and find out directly from them how they need support.
- 1- Be informed on who your growers are, farming practices, benefits and more
- 2- Tell policy makers why small farms are important and get involved in the community efforts
- 3- Spread the word via social media and tell others what you have learned and why you support small farms and businesses
