Keena Moffett is an entrepreneur, author, and creative at heart. Before launching her career in the cannabis industry, she ran an all-natural commercial bakery. Keena's passion for using herbal remedies and homeopathy was evident from a young age. However, it wasn't until her son's childhood friend was diagnosed with cancer did she begin researching the medicinal applications of cannabis. Keena was blown away. It wasn't long before she started looking for ways to infuse her favorite recipes. Needless to say, Keena's life has not been the same since. In 2016, she published "Cannabis Creations: Beyond the Brownie" one of the first cannabis cookbooks focused on removing the stoner stigma from the plant. Today Keena is dedicated to helping others incorporate cannabis into their lives. She is the founder of Exhale Media Productions, a cannabis media company dedicated to removing the stigma and empowering people in expressing the freedom they deserve through cannabis. When Keena isn't hosting her cannabis education series (The Antidote) or running Exhale Media, you can find her traveling and spending time with her husband, two children, and dog Nigel.
What inspired you to enter the cannabis industry?
My son had a childhood friend who was sick with cancer and considering cannabis treatment, and out of curiosity and compassion I began researching the medical applications of the plant, and instantly became obsessed with learning all that I could. I've always used herbal remedies and homeopathy for myself and my family, so I was truly intrigued.
Tell us more about launching your business
I had previously owned an all-natural commercial bakery, and I started by figuring out how to infused those old recipes with cannabis, which led to the writing of my cookbook "Cannabis Creations: Beyond the Brownie".
What have been your biggest hurdles operating in the cannabis industry so far?
Currently, my biggest hurdle is access to biodiversity of cannabis strains as I live in a prohibition state.
How have you been able to overcome these challenges?
I've overcome that challenge by fully immersing myself in cannabis research and lots of experimenting. Information is free in our generation; you've just got to want to find it.
