WOMEN OF CANNABIZ IS DEVOTED TO SHARING THE STORIES OF REMARKABLE women IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY. WE AIM TO ENLIGHTEN, ENCOURAGE, AND EMPOWER FOR A GLOBAL GANJA FRIENDLY FUTURE.
Hearing the words, “I have cancer, Rachel” was a moment that changed my life forever.
She had not smoked cigarettes in years but was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Ironically she had also just graduated from nursing school. After just 6 short intensive months of chemotherapy, I said goodbye to the greatest woman I ever knew, my mom. Weeks shy of my 15th birthday, I had no concept of alternative treatments at the time. In the cornfields of the Midwest cannabis wasn’t exactly a common treatment choice. Actually, it was unheard of – let alone legal.
Oh, the hypocrisy.
Years later, thanks in part to cannabis, I would come to discover the real truths behind the massive lies and blatant distortions regarding marijuana. It was a realization that changed my entire outlook, and ultimately my entire life. Here was a naturally occurring, life-enhancing and healing substance (a plant!), yet it was demonized and criminalized.
How many lives had been lost or ruined in the name of profit? How many were still? My heart ached for my mother and for all the other people in this world who had access to countless unnatural pharmaceutical substances yet denied a very gift from this earth.
But I’ve never been the type to be complacent.
Losing my mother at a young age instilled in me the courage to dream beyond my wildest dreams. Fresh out of school and working the 9-5 grind, I left the security of my full-time job in the pursuit of entrepreneurship. Diving head-first into the world of remote work, I started offering professional writing services worldwide online.
Still, though, something was missing.
While I loved writing, I did not love what I was writing about. Discussing the latest marketing trends or life insurance policies may pay the bills, but it doesn’t exactly feed the soul.
A total lightbulb went off.
I realized I could do something so much more powerful. I didn’t want to just write to "get by" anymore; I wanted to write about something I was passionate about. Life was too short for regrets. I wanted my writing to have substance; to leave a positive impact on this planet. I wasn't going to spend my life working only to line someone's pockets. I wanted to make a positive contribution, why not through writing? That is the one thing I've always known I was born to do.
What a journey it has been.
When I first started writing about cannabis and getting to know the people in this community, I was blown away. Perhaps influenced by my mother, I could not help but be touched by the stories of the women in cannabis. Here were mothers, sisters, friends, and some of the strongest and most inspiring women I had ever met. Never before in my life, and certainly not in any other industry, had I I come across such remarkable women. I knew I had to share their stories.
The world needed to know the Women of Cannabiz.
Wherever you find yourself on this earth, I hope you’ll join me as I share these women’s stories. May they enlighten, encourage, and empower you for a global ganja friendly future.
